In a world first, almost incredibly, Riaan Manser rode a bicycle around the entire continent of Africa. It took him exactly two years, two months and fifteen days. He rode 36 500km through 34 countries, some of them ranked as the most dangerous and most inhabitable places in our world today. Mostly however it is the story of one man’s courage he loves and feels so much part of it.
In Around Africa on my Bicycle Manser tells the story of the epic journey. It is a story of blood, sweat, toil and tears. Itis a story of triumph and occasional disaster. Nights out under the stars, and searing heat and rain, endless miles of Africa and pressing on, determined to never surrender no matter the odds. It is the story of the human warmth he encounters, and occasional human wrath and hostility; as he crosses the planets most troubled countries and borders.
